Hating Artists . . . good or bad?

You know how sometimes there's a song you hate & it get stuck in your head?  That sucks.  It's an ear worm plain & simple & it's never any fun.  That is NOT today's topic of discussion.

Instead I want to discuss when you like a song that you really want to hate.  There are certain artists whom I object to.  Most of said artists have songs which I despise.  But what happens when said artist, whom I plainly reject, has a song that I like?  I mean disliking an artist doesn't mean that you can't appreciate their artistic talents right? 

A prime example . . . I HATE (all cap intentional, to make my point as loud as possible) Eminem.  As an artist I find him repulsive.  I find his music reprehensible.  I find his attitude obnoxious to the extream.  Imagine my suprise when one day I hear an Eminem song which I *GASP* like?!  I believe I like this song because, unlike most of his music, it has an artist I like highlight in it.  "Lighters" is more of a Bruno Mars song than an Eminem one but since it is on Eminem's album & not Bruno's . . . you see my issue.  While I can make all the excuses I like (Bruno is super talented, he has a voice I could fall in love with, he writes exceptional songs, etc. etc.) the song belongs to Eminem and when I looked up the lyrics I - brace yourself - liked them for the most part . . . there are a few exceptions where he goes from good lyrics to blantantly throwing his ego in to make the songs "his" but those are things I can overlook.

Example #2 . . . Selena Gomez.  As much as I want to dislike her bland everyday pop songs I keep finding myself singing them.  Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike her as an artist & I find no fault in her character (that I know of) I just find myself wanting to dislike her.  The song "Love You Like A Love Song" gets stuck in my head & I'll sing it for days.  It's an earworm of sorts but it's an earworm I enjoy.  It's like Ke$ha, I'm fully aware of her suckage (is that a word?) but I still like her music.  Sure, I find her to be a dirty, white trash, tramp just like everyone else & it's exactly the image she wants to portray but I love her music.
